The Ecomondo 2023 Evaluation Committee has approved the application for the Rigel research project to join the Start-up & Scale-up Innovation initiative, which forms part of Ecomondo’s Innovation District project.
The initiative is organised by Italian Exhibition Group, promoted in collaboration with ICE – Italian Trade Agency, ART-ER, a consortium based in Emilia-Romagna, and the MAI Foundation, part of the Confindustria system, and has ANGI, the National Association of Young Innovators, as its main partner.
RIGEL (Research and Innovation for Logistics Management) is essentially a system for monitoring the fill level, positioning and correct use of containers intended for the disposal of different types of waste. The system is also designed to streamline logistics management through an industrial IoT solution. Interaction with the system will take place via user interfaces for web-based visualisation, which can be configured according to the selection of parameters and data of interest at user level. RIGEL formed the core of the current Twin Control system. The project concluded with the filing of a patent for an industrial invention.
Ecomondo brings together the leading companies providing services, solutions and technologies in the environmental sector: from water management to waste disposal, from textiles to bioenergy, from soil management and protection to transport, agriculture and sustainable cities, alongside special areas for cross-cutting projects, and spaces dedicated to networking, information and training. With a view to expanding the physical and digital presence of innovative projects, Ecomondo is consolidating its role as an incubator by retaining the Start-Up & Scale-Up area, with the aim of creating new business opportunities and fostering dialogue between the business world and young start-ups.
A hybrid exhibition area, both physical and virtual, entirely dedicated to innovative start-ups and young Italian and international enterprises offering technologies, services and solutions in the sectors of the green and circular economy, supporting the ecological transition and new models of the circular and regenerative economy. The Start-Up & Scale-Up area is located in Hall D7/B7, East Entrance.
